Chartered Physiotherapist

DBC Ashleaf, Dublin 12

DBC Belfield @ University College Dublin

Chartered Physiotherapist

Our clinics specialise in exercise-based rehabilitation and apply treatments with a foundation of strong scientific support and clinical reasoning. This is especially true of our back and neck rehabilitation programs which utilise medical devices developed in Finland by DBC International. DBC International has a treatment support base that has been consistently growing since the mid-1990’s. Since its development in Finland led by one of the world's foremost experts - Prof. Simo Taimela;  they have proven to be steps ahead of the global physiotherapy market. We see ourselves not only standing on the shoulders of the pioneering work of Prof. Taimela and his team, but as leaders in it's application at a clinical level.

our history

standing on the shoulders of giants

Dublin Back Clinic started life in Ireland in 2001. We were founded by Chartered Physiotherapist Liam Heavin when he established a pilot clinic based at the Ashleaf Centre in South Dublin. This 2,500 square foot facility was purpose built to house a full range of Back, Neck Shoulder, Upper and Lower Limb rehabilitation devices in addition to a state-of-the-art physiotherapy centre. Over the last 15 years, Ashleaf has grown to become a celebrated centre of excellence; particularly in the provision of specialist back and neck rehabilitation. Well over 1,000 back and neck pain sufferers have successfully passed through our doors since 2001, and our reputation as a specialist treatment provider has grown along with this success.

Our goal is to expand the reach and access to our specialist services and state-of-the-art clinics to patients across the Island of Ireland.

The first clinic outside Dublin was opened in Naas, Co. Kildare in 2006 led by well-known Irish Physiotherapist Mary O'Connor.

growing clinic network

Then in a landmark partnership with Ireland's largest university; University College Dublin (UCD), we established a Physiotherapy & Sports Medicine Centre of Excellence at the UCD Institute for Sport & Health in 2012. The clinic is open to the general public as well as providing services to students and staff of the College. Our Belfield clinic provides both pitch-side and physiotherapy services to UCD's AIL Rugby Squad, UCD's League of Ireland Soccer Team, and UCD's Sigerson & Fitzgibbon Cup GAA Teams. In addition to this we also manage the Physiotherapy and Sports Medicine services to the UCD AD Astra Elite Athlete Academy. We are also a service partner to the Irish Hockey Association.
